IECEx Intrinsically Safe Certification
All Gasbot gas monitors hold IECEx intrinsically safe certification — the international gold standard for electronic equipment deployed in explosive atmospheres including LPG, propane, and industrial gas environments.
What is IECEx Certification?
IECEx is the International Electrotechnical Commission System for Certification to Standards Relating to Equipment for Use in Explosive Atmospheres. It is the globally recognised certification scheme for equipment intended for use in areas where flammable gases, vapours, or dusts may be present.
Intrinsically safe (Ex i) certification — the category held by all Gasbot devices — means the equipment has been independently tested and verified to be incapable of releasing sufficient electrical or thermal energy to cause ignition of a flammable atmosphere, even under fault conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is IECEx certification required for LPG monitoring?
LPG vapour is heavier than air and can accumulate in low-lying areas near tanks and fittings. Any electronic device that can produce a spark or sufficient heat in these areas creates an ignition risk. IECEx certification proves the device cannot do so — making it legally and safely deployable in LPG environments in most jurisdictions.
What is the difference between Zone 1 and Zone 2?
Zone 1 covers areas where flammable gas is likely to be present during normal operation (e.g., near LPG tank fittings and vents). Zone 2 covers areas where flammable gas is not normally present but may occur in abnormal conditions. Gasbot devices are certified for both zones.
Can I use non-IECEx certified IoT devices on LPG tanks?
In most jurisdictions, deploying non-certified electronic devices in hazardous areas is a regulatory violation and creates significant safety and insurance liability. Gasbot strongly recommends using only IECEx certified equipment in all LPG and industrial gas environments.
How do I obtain the IECEx certificate documentation?
